The Woodland Orchestra, the musical dimension of Woodland Crafts & Arts, started by making drums out of native wood and deer-hide. The orchestra began with sessions in the drum-shelter amongst Oak, Elm, Willow, Sycamore... Owls, Deer... The rhythms played were not taught but evolved in situ. From here tunes and  songs have grown, which were recorded on 'Dunia Moja', the first album.

Over the past 10 years this has developed into a range of instruments which are taken along to workshops, events and festivals, where people can have a go on them and participate in the Woodland Orchestra experience!

For some footage of the instruments please go to Speyside Net and look at the wooden hand made instruments by Woodland Crafts and Arts.
